[Men's Soccer] No. 8 Evangels pull away in second half over Men's Soccer Falcons

WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 8-ranked Mid-America Christian University Evangels scored four goals in the second half to pull away for a 5-0 win over the Friends University Falcons in non-conference action tonight (Aug. 30) at Adair-Austin Stadium.

The match remained scoreless until the 33rd minute when Luan Cesar put MACU in front.  

It was all Evangels in the second half, particularly during the final 30 minutes.

Cesar was also involved in MACU's second goal when he gained possession at the 20-yard line and fed Ricardo Ferreira for the score at the 62:58 mark.

Cesar Ramirez then scored again at the 75:42 mark to start a barrage of three goals in a five minute span for the Evangels that put the match away.

Georg Westerlund scored the Evangels' fourth goal and Ferreira added his second goal of the night in the 80th minute.

The Evangels led 19-10 in shot-attempts and 11-4 on-goal. Guilherme Oliveira (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Sander Heggheim (FR/Sandnes, Norway) each led the Falcons (1-2) with three shots apiece.

Felipe Garcia (FR/San Jose, Costa Rica) allowed five goals and made five saves, while Jeremi Abonnel recorded four saves for MACU (3-0).

Next up for the Falcons is a pair of matches in the Sooner State, starting with a matchup at Oklahoma City University Saturday night (Sept. 7) at 7 pm in Oklahoma City, Okla.
