RICHARLISON celebrated his first Tottenham goal in style by whipping off his shirt after putting Spurs 3-1 up against Fulham – only to find out that his finish would not count.

The Brazil international, who joined the Lilywhites in a £60million move from Everton in July, played his first full 90 minutes for the club against Fulham on Saturday.

He came close to marking the occasion with a goal, but VAR got in the way.

Tottenham went on the attack as the ball was sent out to Ryan Sessegnon on the left.

The full-back then drove into the box before squaring it to Richarlison, who tapped it in at the back post to put Spurs 3-1 up.

Richarlison proceeded to pick the ball out of the back of the net before kicking it up and into the crowd.

He then sprinted over to the corner flag while ripping his shirt off to celebrate with fans.

But, while he was caught up in the moment, the goal was being reviewed by VAR.

It was then overturned as Sessegnon was in an offside position before making his run into the box.

Not only was Richarlison stripped of his goal, he was also booked for taking his shirt off.

Many rival fans found the incident hilarious and some took to Twitter to react.

One wrote: “Richarlison getting booked for a disallowed goal. You love to see it.”

Another added: “Richarlison took his shirt off after scoring a tap in vs newly promoted Fulham which wasn’t even a winner, got a yellow card, only for his goal to be ruled offside.”

A third said: “Richarlison took his shirt off and got a yellow card, only for his goal to be offside? LOOOOOL.”

While a fourth chimed in, adding: “Richarlison thinks he’s scored a third for Spurs, rips off his shirt in celebration. Gets a yellow card for it, and then the goal is ruled out for offside. Great entertainment.”

Tottenham went on to win the game 2-1 courtesy of goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane.

Aleksandar Mitrovic got one back for Fulham with seven minutes to play, but it was too little too late.
