The decision by the TRS government was taken after AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi demanded the State and Centre to celebrate 'National Integration Day' instead of 'Hyderabad Liberation Day'. Owaisi on Saturday said he had written to Amit Shah and Rao on why a phrase such as "National Integration Day" is more appropriate than "Hyderabad Liberation Day."
