You’ve been using your dishwasher wrong – my $7 hack will make sure your dishes always come out dry
IF you’re frustrated by damp plates and cups after every dishwasher cycle, you aren’t alone.
One woman shared the cheap hack she uses to make sure her dishes come out dry every time with no extra time in the dishwasher or towel-drying.
On TikTok, a user named Mai shares her organizational and home maintenance hacks under the handle HiFleurDeMai.
Mai’s recent video left viewers flabbergasted – and gave the homeowner a chance to voice her frustration over an ongoing problem in the kitchen.
“So we just moved into this house,” Mai said, walking viewers through the home to her kitchen.
She showed the dishwasher full of bowls and cups, then made a confession.

“I thought the dishwasher was a piece of crap because the dishes would still be wet,” she said. Then, she held up a bottle of Cascade Cascade Power Dry Rinse Aid, $6.52 at Walmart.
“I just learned you need to add rinse aid for it to actually dry,” Mai told her followers.
Even though she was happy to have the tool on hand, she was also exasperated at the thought of spending more money.
“That’s just more crap to buy!” Mai exclaimed.

She went on to explain that in her previous home, she never encountered the issue.
“My old dishwasher dried my dishes so I didn’t need to find a solution,” she said.
Grateful commenters expressed appreciation for the tip, while fellow homeowners bemoaned the struggle of doing dishes.
“That’s good to know,” one viewer said. “Looks like I need to make a trip to the store because I just got my first apartment and my dishes aren’t drying”
“Glad I could help!” Mai wrote in response.
If you have a cutting-edge dishwasher, your machine might need a rinse aid, too, as some models don’t have a “dry cycle.”

“We had a technician come out and he said new(er) ones don’t have the heating element anymore,” one commenter recalled.
“My old one dried my dishes,” Mai responded. “I guess it just depends on the brand & model.”
