[Women's Volleyball] Hawks Sweep Sea Beggars in Straight Sets
PASADENA, Calif. – It only took two matches for San Diego Christian College's new volleyball head coach, Bridgette Salas, to earn her first victory as a Hawk. Her squad dominated host Providence Christian College taking a 3-0 straight-sets victory on Friday evening.
The Hawks opened the match with a solid 28-13 first-set win that featured outstanding hitting from Megan Flores, Montana DiSegna, and in her first appearance for SDCC, Teresa Ochoa. The sophomore transfer from Gavilan College, Ochoa would play a huge role throughout the match.
The second set showed Hawk resilience as they came back from a mid-set, seven-point deficit to claim a 25-21 win. The comeback was sparked by several Ochoa kills and several big blocks by DiSegna.
A closely contested 30-28 third set would require nine additional points to be played, but SDCC veteran Ayanna Nunuha would complete the sweep with back-to-back service aces.
