From the Archives, 1942: Australian victory in the Battle of Milne Bay

80 years ago, an Australian garrison repelled a Japanese invasion force at Milne Bay, New Guinea. It was one of the first major battles of the war in the Pacific in which Allied troops decisively defeated Japanese land forces.
