Health ministry officials said the genesis of the idea came about when UP governor Anandiben Patel adopted a girl with TB, following which she urged her staff at the Raj Bhawan to adopt 21 patients of TB. Patel had then presented the idea to the health ministry that has developed it into a national strategic plan.
