Queen Elizabeth news: King Charles pays tribute to ‘darling mama’ and renews ‘promise of lifelong service’ to the crown
KING Charles III paid tribute to his “darling mama” this evening, as he renewed her vow to the crown and to Brits everywhere.
The King spoke at Buckingham Palace, giving a truly heartfelt tribute to his late mother, who passed away in Balmoral yesterday.
In the speech, the King said: “that [her] promise of lifelong service, I renew to you today.”
He spoke of his commitments as King, and suggested he would step back from his charitable duties.
He also named William the Prince of Wales and Kate Princess of Wales.
He ended his speech by saying: “Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years.
“May ‘flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest’.”
In an earlier statement this morning, the new monarch said he wished for “a period of Royal Mourning be observed from now until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral“.
