In August 2018, Naaru went on vacation to the Kaghan valley in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and had gone missing since. Chief Justice Athar Minallah, who presided over Friday's hearing directed the federal government to ensure the missing persons were produced before the court. He warned that Sharif would have to come and give an explanation if his government failed to locate the missing persons, prompting the premier to attend Friday's hearing.
