Man Utd star Anthony Martial names ‘monster’ Wayne Rooney as best team-mate and calls Cristiano Ronaldo ‘super humble’

ANTHONY MARTIAL has hailed “monster” Wayne Rooney as his best ever team-mate – and had high praise for Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

The Frenchman only shared a dressing room with Rooney for two years after he arrived at Manchester United in 2015.

But yet Martial lauded the star’s professionalism as he reflected on the many stars he has worked with throughout his career.

Rooney, now manager at DC United, left Old Trafford in 2017.

Martial raved about his attitude and “monster” mentality.

He told France Football: “The best player I’ve played with? Wayne Rooney. Always for the team, always thoroughly, no cinema. A monster. And a model footballer.

“We have spoken about being genuine and so I can speak about Wayne Rooney. He’s the best player I have played with, always playing for the team, always at 100%, no fuss.”

Martial was also complimentary of teammate Ronaldo, who is in his second spell at Man United.

The Portuguese international returned to the club in the summer of 2021 and proved to be a instrumental part of the squad last season.

Martial said of the 37-year-old: “Super humble. And what a hard worker!

“We often speak when we were at the gym in the morning before going to training and I watched what he was doing. And that’s logic, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo!”

While Martial had only good things to say about the Manchester United legends, he was more critical of others that he has previously worked with.

The 26-year-old slammed former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as “treacherous” and branded another ex-boss Jose Mourinho as “disrespectful” in explosive comments.
