Castlehill Chess Club Dundee along with the rest of Scotland, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the rest of the World would like to express it`s sadness on hearing the news that her majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll has died. Our thoughts and condolences are with King Charles 3 and his family at these difficult times for any family who has lost a loved one.

Queen Elizabeth ll has been our monarch and head of state for 70 years, indeed most of us have known no other. At the tender age of 25 and just a slip of a girl, she pledged her life, devotion and service to our county, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth which she keep doing right up to the end when she gave her royal approval for her 15th Prime Minister in Liz Truss.

We will never see her likes again and her 70 years servitude to us. No matter your personal views, she was a constant upfront or in the back ground for all our lives for the past 70 years. Indeed it will be strange to refer to our head of state as King now, something I have only ever heard of in our history books!
