Journalist reveals there are no venue change plans for Spurs v Leicester

BBC Sport’s Owynn Palmer-Atkin has revealed that Tottenham’s upcoming fixture Leicester City will not be moved to the King Power Stadium.

It is unclear as of now if the Premier League fixtures next weekend will go ahead, with Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral set to take place on Monday.

Spurs are due to take on Leicester at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 5.30 pm on Saturday.

The Athletic reported on Saturday that although Premier League clubs are hopeful of returning to action next weekend, the games in the capital are under threat since police officers are likely to be redeployed at short notice for Her Majesty’s funeral.

The report added that one potential solution would be for London clubs to play away from home next weekend instead of at their own stadiums but it was explained that this proposal is not likely to prove popular with the clubs who would have to host the fixtures.

This is because they would have to arrange staff and sell tickets for their matches on short notice.

Palmer-Atkin has now taken to social media to reveal that shifting Tottenham’s match to the King Power Stadium on Saturday is out of the question.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would imagine that Spurs will be desperate to play and would not mind playing the away game first as another potential postponement could create havoc in terms of the schedule.

So, as The Athletic suggested earlier, it appears as if it is Leicester who are against the idea, given the arrangements they would have to make on extremely short notice.
