A bench led by Chief Justice U.U. Lalit and comprised of Justice S. Ravindra Bhat aimed the Centre to file a reaction to the petitions challenging the CAA, as well as the Assam and Tripura governments to file responses to petitions posing state-specific questions about the CAA. The top court indicated that it may refer the matter to a three-judge bench and scheduled the hearing on October 31.
