Leeds United Chat • Re: Premier League Postponed- LUFC vs Manure Postponed - That's killed our forum until October!!!
It may sound easy to rearrange a fixture at short notice but that also means bringing in hundreds of support staff who will be engaged elsewhere. Security, stewarding, catering. Those folk do not work at the grounds full time with most being outside contractors. Also I think they could have been a bit more creative. If Liverpool and Chelsea can't play today because of the CL, why not have Wolves and Fulham (their respective opponents) advance that fixture to today? Anything to clear up space in the calendar later on.
If playing in London is a problem, why not reverse the non-derby fixtures to be outside of London? (But, if it's true Brentford and Spurs keep their fixtures, then maybe that's not the issue.) Any change will be awful for away supporters, never mind those who fly in from other continents, but surely must be less disruptive than what they've decided.
Add in the safety element and you are putting others at risk.
But we have two weeks to the International break which makes a work around doable.
Cancel the International break in England and reschedule at least one of the postponed games then. Any overseas players would be removed from their International squads.
It is only the Nations League which is the probably the worst competition UEFA have ever dreamed up.
