Man Utd vs Leeds United Premier League game has been postponed
The Premier League game between Manchester United and Leeds United on Sunday has been postponed due to policing issues related to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Red Devils will be in Europa League action against Sheriff Tiraspol on the road on Thursday night, but that will be their final game before the September international break.
After extensive conservations between the Premier League, Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council, it has been decided that the Leeds game will be postponed.
The Greater Manchester Police are due to support forces across the United Kingdom and events of high significance this weekend following the unfortunate demise of the Queen.
The Red Devils have gained momentum under manager Erik ten Hag over the past few weeks in the league. After two defeats, they have won four league games on the trot.
Ten Hag would have ideally liked to continue the momentum with a fifth league win, but that won’t happen this month. Still, they have the chance to go into the break on a high.
The club will be facing Sheriff in Moldova on Thursday and hopefully, it will be a routine victory.
Sheriff can’t be underestimated after their shock win at Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League, but United should go into the game as clear favourites on paper.
Meanwhile, United’s next Premier League match will be a big one with a Manchester derby away from home. They will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on October 2.
The preparation is not ideal with the pause in between. Unlike United, City will travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday after hosting Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
