Brendan Fraser Weighs In On 'Batgirl' Release Being Cancelled
Brendan Fraser shows off his award after the TIFF Tribute Awards Gala during the 2022 Toronto Film Festival at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Sunday night (September 11) in Toronto, Ontario.
The 53-year-old actor was awarded the honor for his role in The Whale, which debuted the same night at the festival.
During a sit down interview with Variety, Brendan weighed in on the recent cancellation of Batgirl, where he was set to portray a villain.
He admits he was “disappointed” by the decision Warner Bros. made.
“The fans really wanted to see this film made. Leslie Grace is a dynamo,” he noted. “The movie was shot and conceived for a smaller screen. In this age that we’ve come out of now between streaming service versus theatrical release, it wound up being the canary in the coal mine.”
Here’s how the directors of Batgirl reacted to the news of the movie being axed.
