My mother-in-law was so rude to me at dinner & told me to get Botox, but the worst was the ‘special gift’ she gave me
ONE woman has shared the rude remarks made over dinner by her mother-in-law, who brazenly suggested she get Botox.
But she says the cherry on top wasn’t the dig at how she was aging, but rather the “special gift” she gave her at the end of the evening.
Reddit user TheWifeAccount recounted the terrible dinner she had with her mother-in-law after four years of no contact.
At the meal, the older woman offered a list of demeaning comments that left her more than ready to never initiate contact again.
She shared details in the popular Reddit community JUSTNOMIL, which is deemed on the site as a “place to post about your MIL or Mother who is just the *worst*.”
At the start of the post, she said that she and her husband have been happy with her being in no contact with other members of the family.

A mutual trauma bond between her husband and his father keeps them close.
After being pestered for months by her mother-in-law about not making an effort to see her, she finally decided to grab dinner and attempt to bury the hatchet.
The insistence from her husband is what ultimately made her agree to take her out to dinner.
It was at that dinner that her mother-in-law delivered a slew of backhanded comments, which were later shared on the site.

The user wrote that her mother-in-law has no daughters and recently had to undergo a hysterectomy, which gave her the urge to “make amends.”
One of the initial comments brought up at dinner had to do with the user’s reproductivity and parenting future.
The user explained online that she said: “It’s still not too late for me to have kids before my ovaries turn into prunes.”
In addition, she mentioned that the user should stop working out because it made her arms look similar to those of a transgender man.
The slew of insults did not end before she also mentioned to the younger woman that she should quit her job and change careers to something that has more women.
This way, her son shouldn’t have to compete with so many other men the wife knows at work.
The mother-in-law even had the nerve to tell the wife that her eyelids have gotten droopy and she should look into Botox.
“It’s great apparently,” she wrote of the mother-in-law’s opinion of the injectable.
And though the older woman does not have a license, that didn’t stop her from telling her daughter-in-law how to drive.
She continued on, asking her daughter-in-law to donate to her religious group. When the younger woman handed her $20, the older woman saw there was more cash inside and demanded more.
“She told me I can do more than just $20, asked her I’ll give her all if she’s paying the bill at the restaurant, crickets…” she wrote.
The cherry on top happened when she dropped her back home, with the mother-in-law giving her a “special gift.”
“Made a big fuss about how she’s been thinking of me for weeks holding onto this gift and how much I’d love it,” she wrote. “I was skeptical but she hyped it up so much I actually got intrigued.”
The kicker was that the special gift was not entirely special at all.
It was a HelloFresh promo card, which many people receive at least once a month in their mailboxes.
“It was junk mail. My special gift was junk mail,” she noted.
The comment section did not hold back in letting their opinions be known about the rude mother-in-law and her outlandish views.
“Sounds like you got what you need to help you appreciate the next several years of no contact!” one reader responded.
“Oh that’s precious. What a memory. Consider wrapping it beautifully and leaving it for your husband. Let him know his mom thoughtfulness just too good not to pass on to him. Then let him know that you would just love to see her again….2032 might be a good year,” another jokingly added.
