Woman whose rape kit DNA was used to arrest her in separate crime sues city of San Francisco
A woman is suing the city of San Francisco after her rape kit was used to arrest her for an unrelated crime. Identified as Jane Doe, the sexual assault victim filed a lawsuit Monday, hoping to hold the city accountable for using her rape kit five years after it was issued, the woman’s attorney Adante Pointer told The New York Times.
Doe’s case first made headlines in February when it was made known that data stored and collected from 2016 in connection to her domestic violence and sexual assault case was used by the San Francisco Police Department crime lab database to connect her DNA to a burglary.
