Sterling hits new low against U.S. dollar as retail sales fall
LONDON, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The British pound fell to a 37-year low against the U.S. dollar on Friday after worse-than-expected retail sales volumes were published.
The pound traded below 1.14 U.S. dollars for some time, reaching its lowest level since 1985. On Friday, sterling also fell to its weakest level since early 2021 against the euro.
