I was a bridezilla & posted a rude rant online – now I’ve made the very mistake I was angry about for a friend’s wedding
NOBODY is the same person they were almost a decade ago, but that doesn’t mean you’re any better.
A former bridezilla has received backlash online after she did the very thing she bashed others for doing in the years previous.
A Reddit user has been called a hypocrite after she posted a rude rant online in the wake of her wedding, and then did the very thing she gave out about years later.
The former bride began her post by acknowledging that her original rant was out of line.
She explained: “I had my wedding on a Wednesday afternoon, we were late sending out invites, and many of my guests had to take off from work and travel several hours to be there.”
” When many people declined, I took to Facebook and went on a rant about people not making time for the important things and being terrible friends and relatives,” the user continued.

She clarified that she was ashamed of her actions and regretted posting the rant.
The original poster explained how her friend Paul had attended her wedding, despite having just started a new job at the time and having to drive five hours to the event.
The mother-of-two detailed how, years later Paul became engaged and invited her to his wedding.
“It’s five hours away. We got the save the date and the invitation. I tried to get childcare for the day, but no relatives are willing to do it and we cannot afford a babysitter,” she explained.

After having to RSVP no, the Reddit user’s sister recalled the rant she gave about the same situation.
“She reminded me of my post, specifically calling out people who didn’t get babysitters, people who wouldn’t take off work, and those who wouldn’t travel for my wedding,” the original poster said.
Her sister disputed the former bridezilla’s claims that she had changed since her wedding day.
“My sister replied that I hadn’t changed, I just wanted different rules to apply to me when the shoe is on the other foot,” the user wrote.
She concluded her post by explaining how she could not afford to buy Paul a wedding gift, despite his expensive present to her years earlier.
Reddit users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the situation.
“Paul sounds like he was a great friend. He went far out of his way to attend OP’s wedding and gave a generous gift. OP is now on the other side and doesn’t want to be bothered to make arrangements despite having ample notice or to send a gift,” wrote one reader.

Another person said: “I’m still baffled by her having a short notice wedding on a Wednesday freaking afternoon and got mad when people declined.”
“I always wondered what happens to the bridezillas after getting married. They stay as bridezillas huh? Your sister is right, you should at least give him a monetary gift. It’s honestly the least you could do,” said one user.
