My dad wrote my name wrong on my birth certificate – if you pronounce it how it’s spelled, it sounds dirty
A TIKTOK user has shared the name her father accidentally wrote on her birth certificate, leaving her with an inappropriate name for life.
The user shared the story behind her written name in a viral video that many viewers related to.
Chole, pronounced as KLO-EE, shuts down any questions about her name in a quick 12-second video that leaves little to be said.
She wouldn’t be the first or the last person to have their name misspelled, but having it happen on their birth certificate takes the cake.
Sometimes an incorrect name on a birth certificate isn’t caused by a spelling or typing mistake but rather the parent registering the birth may have provided the wrong given name, like Chole’s father.
The content creator quickly shared the birth story in a viral response video.
The video is based off of a user’s comment on a previous post that Chole replies to which reads,” no f***ing way your name is chole.”
“Yes way my name is C-hole, coal, chole, however you want to pronounce it,” she bluntly says at the start of the video.
Apparently, the question isn’t anything new for the TikTok user, as she gives some more background.
“It’s actually, like, the second most common misspelling at the hospital,” she states.

The statement is soon followed by a quick story detailing how the baby name blunder went down.
“My dad spelt it wrong on the birth certificate, and it never got updated,” she explains.
Though it was never updated on Chole’s birth certificate, correcting or updating a birth certificate is actually not a hard process and can be completed with a series of steps.
The process of changing or making amends to your birth certificate does vary from state to state.
The office of vital records is the institution responsible for keeping and issuing the birth certificates for babies.
To make a correction to your U.S. birth certificate, you have to go to the correction/amendments department at the vital records office that issued the original birth certificate.
The name mistake resonated with many of Chole’s viewers, and they shared their own stories and experiences in the comments.
“Omg girl my dad misspelled Chloe as Chole on my birth certificate too,” one user commented.
“I read it as «coal» its cute,” another added.
