Bayern Munich’s Nagelsmann under pressure after defeat
Bayern Munich dropped to fourth in the Bundesliga table after a 1-0 loss to Augsburg on Saturday. Mergim Berisha scored the only goal of the match for the home side. The German giants are now winless in four consecutive league matches, as their last victory in the competition came nearly a month ago against VfL Bochum.
After the game, manager Julian Nagelsmann claimed that things will have to change moving forward.
Bayern Munich’s Nagelsmann under pressure
“The recent negative trend is not good,” Nagelsmann told Sky Sports Germany. “A lot has to change. We’re just very, very laissez-faire in the last third. In training we don’t even have that much of a majority.”
The manager even suggested that he needs some time to assess the current situation at the club. “I’m going to think, then we’ll see how things go on from here. I think about everything, about myself, about the situation, about everything.”
Team sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić was also very unhappy after the match as well. “We haven’t won in four games. I’m a bit concerned,” claimed Salihamidžić. “We didn’t finish several chances and conceded few chances. We can’t win like that in the Bundesliga. We have problems against physical teams. Now there are no more excuses. Now we need wins.”
Reasons for Bayern Munich fans to stay positive
Despite Bayern Munich‘s woes in the league, they are still performing well in Champions League play. The 10-time defending Bundesliga champs find themselves top of the ‘group of death’ that includes Barcelona and Inter Milan. Bayern have already beat both of their group C contenders so far, without allowing a single goal.

Nevertheless, Nagelsmann could be on a short leash due to his club’s domestic issues. Bayern has extremely high standards for the competition and could soon make a change at the position. This is even if the club continues success in the group phase of the Champions League. Fellow German coach Thomas Tuchel could possibly become an option, as he was recently sacked by Chelsea.
