I was fined £100 because my car wheel was HALFWAY over the line – but I couldn’t park any further into the space
A DAD was fined £100 after his car wheel was halfway over the line – but he couldn’t pull any further into the space.
Craig Court took his two children to a Ninja Warrior Adventure Park in Swansea where he was informed he didn’t park “correctly”.
He found a spot in Parc Tawe Retail Park but “was unable to park further in” as a large 4×4 had its rear “sticking out” of the space opposite.
And one week later, Craig received a letter from carpark owners, Swansea-based Eternity Fire and Security Ltd, ordering him to pay the fine within 28 days.
The notice included two pictures of his Ford Focus which showed his back wheels sitting on the white line of the space and claimed he was “not parked correctly within the markings of a bay or space”.
The dad told WalesOnline: “I was considering appealing as my wheels are not fully out of the lines.

“At the end of the day, I was only taking my kids to Ninja Warrior – so using their facilities [the Parc Tawe carpark] – now [I] feel penalised for it.”
The other vehicle Craig claims was sticking out, was not shown in the parking firm’s photos sent to him.
The letter also informed him the fine would be reduced to £60 if he paid within 14 days.

Craig added: “I have never been fined there before, I am usually quite strict in where I park and how I park.
“I paid on time [so I’d only have to pay the lower amount].
“I would say be extremely cautious parking there; ensure to leave plenty of time when leaving as there is only one exit and two entrances leading to long waiting times in the build up of traffic at peak times.”
Craig has since returned to the car park to re-read the signs and admits it does say motorists “need to be wholly in the lines”.
