#WhyRingette – #ChooseRingette | What is your why? | Ayton Johnston’s Why
Why Ringette? Ringette is a sport for everyone. The exciting game was invented in 1963 by a man named Sam Jacks. Since then, the game has significantly grown.
Our very own intern chose ringette almost 18 years ago and still plays to this day. Ayton Johnston started her ringette journey with the Cambridge Turbos. At the time, she was entirely new to the ringette world and had no idea she would have made the memories she has today. Growing up, Ayton experienced many excellent opportunities within ringette, from making lifelong friends to learning how to be a better person in her day-to-day life.
Ayton plays in the NRL but has played for many teams all over Ontario. This has led her to meet many new people and build connections within ringette.
“Ringette definitely has a special place in my heart; I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over Canada to play the game I love. Ringette has taught me so many things like dedication, hard work and time management skills as well as helping me find my passion for photography. Exciting as this is, my ringette journey and love for photography have led me to where I am today with Ringette Ontario.”
As well as playing, Ayton has had the chance to give back to her community by coaching the younger generation and sharing her passion for the game.
Ringette is more than just a fun, competitive sport; it is a community.
What is your story? What is your why? All day long, make sure you’re telling your why.
