Hello to all our supporters, partners, and friends. It’s been an extremely busy period with the inaugural season about to start for the Caledonia Gladiators and with the purchase of the Glasgow Rocks BBL Franchise happening much faster than we had anticipated. Nevertheless, we are delighted to be taking both clubs forward together and providing investment and a compelling vision for a bright new future.
With a successful pre-season under our belt, it is great to see the level of performance at this early stage and it looks like we have extremely competitive teams led by great coaching staff.
We continue to build the infrastructure necessary to support everyone on and off court and ourmanagement team have been working hard with our Basketball staff to get the new season underway. Whilst the teams continue their preparation for what we are sure will be a very exciting season, we are working to facilitate the recently announced rebranding of Glasgow Rocks to allow us to move forward under one brand for both our male and female athletes, Caledonia Gladiators.
Whilst it was necessary to make the announcement ahead of the season start, the rebrand of a club with over 20 years of history must be handled very carefully to ensure the media, the connections and the followership is not lost. The rebranding experts would advise to shut down all social media, work the changes and relaunch the new brand in its entirety and that is normally how these kinds of changes are handled. However, we decided to allow the Glasgow Rocks to slowly evolve into the Caledonia Gladiators brand as we heralded in the changes taking care to preserve all historical content. This will allow fans to see both brands together for a period of time before the Glasgow Rocks name takes its rightful place in our hall of fame, allowing Caledonia Gladiators to carry the mantle into a new future.
This new future is starting to unfold as both male and female Gladiators get equal billing and provide each other support and encouragement in a way that has never been done.
The exciting new BBL marketing campaign ‘KNOW OUR NAME” has launched and we have provided for the Glasgow Rocks brand to feature alongside Caledonia Gladiators in the early part of this campaign before again being replaced completely as the season gets underway, giving the Glasgow Rocks brand a send-off of sorts if you will. This new BBL marketing campaign heralds a new era for British Basketball and we intend to lead from the front, providing the best environment for our teams, community and youth development programs, and most important of all – a new leading edge home for our club as a platform for prosperity and success – and it will be magnificent!
We will also launch our own campaign to drive forward our WBBL Caledonia Gladiators simultaneously with both marketing initiatives coming together as the season develops.
Our teams are ready, we are ready and we would encourage our fans to get ready. Ahead lies a new season, a new identity, a new future, and a new home for our Gladiators which will allow our club to be fierce competitors in British and ultimately European Basketball. Let’s get behind our teams with the strongest and loudest support in the UK!
