The state government highlighted both convictions as its success that further bolsters its projected image of going hard against organised crime. This, as Ansari's son and current SBSP MLA from Mau- Abbas Ansari has also been facing charges under the Arms Act and Money Laundering Act and has been declared an absconder by the state government, while his brother, BSP MP Afzal Ansari is battling charges too.
