World Cadets Chess Championships 22 – Final report
World Cadets Chess Championships 22
15th to 28th Sept 22
Euphoria Hotel – Batumi – Georgia on the Black Sea Coast
Report Update: 27th Sept 22
They think it’s all over… Well Rishi, It is now!
Round 9: Against a 2184 from Spain with Black: Loss!
Round 10: Against a 1470 from Uzbekistan with white: Loss.
Round 11: Against a 1658 from Kazakhstan with black: Win!
Rishi in his last three matches did fantastically against strong opponents. Losing to the number 7 seeded player in round nine was expected! Yes Rishi lost to a 1470 in round 10, but that player, seeded 104th, finished in 23rd place!
But what a finish to the tournament in round 11 with a nice win against a 1658!
Rishi was seeded 43rd and finished in 43rd place out of 150 players! His TPR was down (1632), but given junior grades are fluid to say the least, this was a wonderful performance on the big stage for someone so young! The experience gained here will help Rishi develop to a higher level. It`s still hard to believe how young he is and how well he already plays!
Well done Rishi! I hope you enjoyed the experience and got to see some of the sights. Can`t wait to see you again at Castlehill Chess Club!
Also congratulations to our other Scottish FIDE Cadets, Rithvik Deepak, Supratit Banerjee and Advik Mittal!
