[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Snags Draw with Briar Cliff
Doane Men's Soccer took on Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday. The Chargers scored in the first half with Doane responding with a goal in the second half as the match finished in a 1-1 tie.
A corner kick for the Chargers scored the first goal of the game as the ball made its way into the box off the kick and was deflected in by Vinicius Gregorio in the 38' of play. Briar Cliff took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Doane drew a foul in the goal box in the 71' off a throw in. Brody Mueller (SO/Liberty, Mo.) took the penalty kick attempt for the Tigers and placed the ball in the back of the net to tie the game. Opportunities over the final 19 minutes were limited with Briar Cliff holding a 3-1 shot advantage, though none of the shot attempts were on-goal.
Hunter Pitt (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) finished with three saves for the Tigers as Doane held a 5-4 shots on-goal advantage.
The Tigers will be back at home on Saturday, October 1, as they play host to Morningside.
