[Women's Soccer] Briar Cliff Holds Back Women's Soccer
Doane Women's Soccer traveled to Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday afternoon for a meeting with Briar Cliff. The Charger women are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll entering the day's action. BCU won the game, 3-0.
The Tigers were held without a shot in the first half but on the defensive end, came up with several key stops. In the 38' of play, the Chargers were able to get on the board as Doane was called for a penalty in the goal box, awarding Briar Cliff with a penalty kick that was converted. The Tigers had seven saves in the first half.
In the second half, the Chargers scored two goals within a 10-minute span. In the 61' a corner kick setup the first goal as the ball was headed back to the center of the box to set up the shot attempt. In the 71', Mady Soumare made a spin move in the box and turned to fire a shot that found the back of the goal.
Briar Cliff finished with a 17-2 shot advantage with shots on-goal at 14-2. Grayce Southern (FR/Tulsa, Okla.) had nine saves in goal with the Tiger defense picking up two team saves.
Doane returns home on Saturday, October 1, to take on Morningside at 1 PM.
