[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Falcons battle Bethany to 1-1 tie
WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons and Bethany College Swedes played to a 1-1 draw tonight (Sept. 28) at Adair-Austin Stadium.
In the first half, Christian Raffinengo (JR/Wichita, Kan. ) was aggressive from the moment he entered the match and it paid off as he put himself in the right position to head in a shot from the right post off a feed from Juan Zamora (SR/LaBelle, Florida) to put the Falcons on top at the 35:31 mark.
The Falcons held that lead until Joshua Momodu scored for Bethany to square the match at 1-1 and into the eventual tie.
Raffinengo had a match-high eight shots and five shots-on-goal to help the Falcons hold a 24-14 edge in overall shot-attempts. But the Swedes outshot the Falcons 9-7 on-goal.
Felipe Garcia (FR/San Jose, Costa Rica) was outstanding in the net for the Falcons (4-5-1, 3-0-1 KCAC), recording a career-high eight saves to preserve the tie.
Jake Goldstein also stopped six shots for the Swedes (4-3-1, 2-0-1 KCAC).
The Falcons will remain at home and host Southwestern College Saturday evening (Oct. 1) for Senior night starting at 5 pm.
