100 Greatest shows of all time
https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movi...-3-1234598401/
quite an interesting list.
Hard to find fault with their #1, but for my money I'd go with Breaking Bad (#3) as the greatest show of all time.
Biggest snub? Has to be The Cosby Show. I get that the views of Bill Cosby have certainly taken a turn since that show wrapped up, but at the time of its viewing, it was one of the most influential TV shows ever. To not make the top 100, let alone the top 10 where it belongs tells me they are taking the downturn of the star and holding it against the show.
#81... Its always Sunny would easily slide into my top 25. Not for those easily offended; always funny.
#80... Band of Brothers...If you are going to include 1 season bi-opics then this show should easily make the top 25 as well. Fantastic 12ish episode telling of WW2.
#63... South Park, should be top 50 at least and I could see the argument for top 10. It took what the Simpsons built and developed it into a medium for a more mature audience. And **** funny.
#50... Jeopardy, the only game show on the list and I have no clue where to place it.... but it was a staple of many for a long, long time. #50 feels about perfect.
#29... Roots, wasn't this even less of a traditional "show" than Band of Brothers? IIRC, it was a 5 or 6 part mini-series but if you are going to include it on the list then #29 seems too low, seems like it should be pushing top 15.
#24.... Freaks and Geeks, I enjoyed this show at the time and certainly Jud Apatow and his cast of young actors from this show went on to great things but this always feels like an overrated show... like it gets special treatment because of where so many of those actors/Jud Apatow went to, not really for where they were at the time.
#15... the Larry Sanders show.... meh.... nowhere near my top 100.
#7... Mad Men. I really enjoyed this, but 7 seems too high, I'd say just outside the top 25
#5... Fleabag... I've never heard of this. Perhaps I'll check it out. I can't say if the ranking is worthy or not, but one of the few on this list that I've never even heard of.
#4... The Wire... Awesome show
#2.... Simpsons... Seems a tad high but I understand the logic for placing it there.
#1... Don't want to spoil it, but as mentioned above, I'd have put Breaking Bad here but that could be splitting hairs.
Some shows that I didn't see on there that would make my personal top 100...
How I met your mothers, Bing Bang Theory & 2-1/2 men.
Entourage
Queen's Gambit
Stranger Things
Phineas and Ferb
Happy Days
The Brady Bunch
A-team
Quantam Leap
Different Strokes
and
Baywatch......I really enjoyed the "acting" :)
Shows I rarely or never got into but were surprised they didn't make the list were ER and 24.
Anyhoo, what say you?
