Republicans don't accept election results. That's not polarization, it's GOP extremism
Among the most dangerous and disingenuous bothsides-isms many mainstream reporters have latched on to is the notion that the country being polarized means the Republican and Democratic parties are equally as extreme. But conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin dismantles that argument in a recent piece.
'It’s not polarization when one party recognizes the results of a democratic election and the other does not," writes Rubin. “That’s radicalization of the GOP.”
As a party, Republicans are awash in election deniers. In fact, the issue has become a litmus test of sorts for MAGA Republicans, with a frightening number of GOP candidates happily amplifying the fantasy that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. Why? Because that’s what a substantial majority of their voters want to hear. In poll after poll, anywhere from 60% - 70% of Republicans say Joe Biden wasn't legitimately elected, despite having zero evidence to prove it.
