Thomas Ruesink appointed Head of Children’s Programme
Queen’s Park FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas Ruesink (36) as the club’s new Head of Children’s Program. Ruesink, born in Doetinchem in The Netherlands, will lead the clubs Children’s Program, which includes the first years of the Academy up to and including the U14’s. He will fit into one of the two key roles to lead the academy in terms of content.
Previously Ruesink worked as an Academy coach and Coordinator of the Children’s Program at De Graafschap in the Eerste Divisie in the Netherlands.
In 2015 he was asked to join the famous Aspire Academy in Qatar to lead the U9-U13 age groups. During this period, he also crossed paths with Xavi Hernández, who then was a coach at Al Sadd.
From 2019 to 2022 he worked at the Academy of PSV Eindhoven as the Skills Coach in all Academy teams.
Marijn Beuker: ‘The right candidate with the right experience’
“We are busy shaping the football organization within Queen’s Park, so we can further develop the academy and implement the modern vision on football and training methodology. One of the crucial roles is that of the Head of Children’s Program. The children’s program is the fundament component of the Academy. The full focus is on mastering the ball and be ready to dominate 1v1 duels. It requires a specific skillset and patience to translate this to the field.
“In the last months I have been looking for a candidate who has a lot of experience in the European football culture, but also has the ambition to be an expert in the Children’s Program. In Thomas we have found the right candidate.”

“I am very excited to join Queen’s Park and very much looking forward to be part of the famous Scottish football culture. Having experience working in different cultures and top-flight academies I can not wait to start in my role as the Head of Childrens’ Programme and share my knowledge and skills to hopefully help players reach a higher level everyday.
“I’ve know Marijn since 2008 and we crossed our roads many times, but unfortunately never worked together. I look forward working together with him.”
Beuker: ‘A highly regarded expert in technical development’
“Thomas is recognized in Europe as one of the best in his area of expertise. I am very excited to welcome him to further build this fantastic project. He has worked with the highest potentials in both PSV and Aspire Academy. He has worked with a lot of different coaches and knows what it takes to work in an elite environment. He has a lot of experience in many different football cultures, so I am convinced he will adapt to the Scottish football culture really quick.”
