Match Preview: Queen’s Park vs Raith Rovers

0

The Spiders return to Ochilview for the first time since the 2-1 win against Cove Rangers in late August with Ian Murray’s Raith Rovers providing the opposition.

Ahead of the game, Owen Coyle gave his thoughts to the club media team.

Owen said: “This is another game that we are very much looking forward to. We’ll be up against an exciting, attacking Raith Rovers side who are going in to the game on the back of a couple of good wins where they played really well. I expect to see two very attack minded teams going out to try and win the game.”

“I know Ian very well and he is a very good manager. He’s done very well since arriving at Raith Rovers, as he had at Airdrie previously so it’s no surprise that they are winning games. We will need to be at our best if we want to win, that’s for sure.”

“For us, it’s important that we work hard to reach the standards that we have already set. We’ll need to move the ball and to ensure we take care of it when we are in possession. The players know that they’ll need to be at their best both with and against the ball as we know they have some very good, individually talented players, particularly in forward areas.”

“We have to be very respectful of Raith Rovers, which we are, but know, and we have shown, that when we are at our best we can win games in this league. Our focus and concentration has to be on our game and what we can control.”

“It’s pleasing that we continue to look a threat every time we play. We obviously had the setback at Dundee a few weeks ago but we have responded very well to that and we want to continue looking and moving forward. We want to keep scoring goals and winning games and that’s what we are aiming to continue doing.”

On the squad front Owen said: “We have a couple of bumps and bruises in the team but nothing that we would expect to rule anyone out. We do welcome Jonny Kenny back into the squad after he missed out last week due to being cup tied. Charlie Fox remains sidelined but continues to make good progress in his recovery. We are hoping to see him take part in some light training in the next week or two. Charlie is in a positive place in terms of his recovery though.”
