Are London Tubes running amid train strikes this week?
Travel chaos once again rains down on the UK, as more national rail strikes take place this week.
Transport for London (TfL) staff aren’t striking this time, last striking on August 19. However, train strikes on October 1, 5 and 8 will have an impact on London’s Tube, Overground and other TfL services.
So, will public transport be affected this week?
Here’s all you need to know.
Are the Tubes running this week amid rail strikes?
Saturday, October 1
Saturday, October 1 will see further disruption, as some Tube lines are affected by the national strike.
There’ll be no London Overground service on this day, unfortunately.
Expect limited service on the Elizabeth Line, too. Trains to Reading and London Heathrow Airport will operate twice per hour (each), with services operating until 5.10pm. It’s the same for Shenfield trains, though services will stop at 5.30pm.
As for Tubes, people can expect the District Line to have limited trains running from Wimbledon to Parson’s Green, and between Richmond and Turnham Green – as well as limited Bakerloo Line service between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.
Separately, there’s no service between Acton Town and London Heathrow terminals on this day on the Piccadilly Line, as there are planned engineering works happening on the Saturday and Sunday, October 2. A replacement bus service will run instead.
You may also find that Tubes and other services, even if running as normal, are a bit busier than usual.
If you’re feeling cautious, check your planned route on TfL’s journey planner or their strike information page.
Sunday, October 2
Things should be back up and running as normal by late morning on Sunday, October 2, TfL says.
However, you should be aware that the London Marathon is taking place on this day, and some services will likely be pretty busy. You can check out the route map here.
And the planned closure of the Piccadilly Line between Acton Town and London Heathrow will be ongoing on Sunday, again with a replacement bus service in its place.
Wednesday, October 5
The London Overground will operate no trains on Wednesday, October 5 – as its tracks are affected by the strike.
Other TfL trains and services will be running as normal.
Saturday, October 8
On Saturday, October 8, TfL transport users can expect more limited services.
There will be a reduced service on London Overground between 8am and 6pm, with nothing before or after these times.
The Elizabeth Line will also see a reduced service, with two trains per hour to Reading and London Heathrow, stopping at 5.15pm, and trains to Shenfield also running twice per hour, ending at 5.30pm.
Tube passengers should note the District Line will have limited trains running from Wimbledon to Parson’s Green, and between Richmond and Turnham Green – as well as limited Bakerloo Line trains between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.
Normal service is expected to resume by late morning on Sunday, October 9.
