[Men's Cross Country] Cross Country Teams Continue To Improve

Mount Marty traveled to Iowa to compete in the Briar Cliff Invite on Saturday. The Lancers continue to improve and continue to set new personal best times. 

The Lancers had their best showing as a team on the season with the men's team finishing 4th and the women 5th of 9 collegiate teams.  Brian Santiago (SR/Hartington, NE) (26:28.7) led the MMU men placing 18th overall (10th out of all collegiate runners) and ran a season-best time by 1 minute and 28 seconds.  Teammates Cris Gonzalez (27:36.2), Tague Tvedt (FR/Clear Lake, SD) (28:04.0), and Carson Means (SR/Norfolk, NE) (28:16.1) all ran personal best times on the day with Gonzalez and Means taking over 1 minute off their previous best performances. Liam Vidas (JR/Rapid City, SD) (28:32.5) knocked 1 minute and 40 seconds off his season-best time to round out the Lancers men's squad.

 
On the women's side, Kiah Trainor (20:11.4) paced the Lancers with a new personal best time which shaved 68 seconds off her previous best.  Teammates Emily Johnson (21:01.2) and Grace Holys (23:36.1) also ran collegiate bests with Johnson cutting 57 seconds off her best time from earlier this season.  Meanwhile, Gracie Rippen (22:36.0), Leighton Mlady (22:06.5), and Madison Howard (24:25.0) added season-best performances.  Bree Eisenhauer (22:52.8) and Emma Neises (23:13.3) also had strong showings on the day with Eisenhauer improving her course best by 36 seconds. 
 
Head Coach Dan Fitzsimmons had this to say, "Today was a lot of fun!  We really came together as a group and took our team to another level. With over a month left till our conference championships, we are anxious to see how much more we can improve over the next four weeks."
