Wolves Suffer Bad Injury Blow, Star Out Until After World Cup

The forward hurt ligaments in his ankle during the London Stadium loss and Wolves have been assessing the severity of the injury.

The news is bad for both player and club, with Neto set to be out of action for several months.

As a result, the Portuguese will miss the winter World Cup in Qatar, with the injury ending any hope of him featuring in the tournament.

Neto will instead focus on recovering to be involved in the second half of Wolves’ Premier League campaign, where he will be playing under a new manager following the exit of Bruno Lage.

The 22-year-old has made eight appearances for Wolves in the Premier League this season and losing him during the busy month of October is a blow for the club.

He has turned out for Wolves on more than 100 occasions since joining the club from Portuguese outfit Braga.

Neto, a product of Braga’s youth system, was capped at multiple youth levels by Portugal until being handed his senior bow in 2020.
