I’m a money saving pro, you’re writing your grocery list wrong, the right way will save hundreds a month with no effort
DO you make a weekly shopping list of everything you’ll need to make the meals you’ve decided on for the next seven days?
Well, according to one money saving guru, that popular method is out of date and should be replaced by a brand new technique.
TikTok user Gina Zakaria, who describes herself as a money expert and can be found at @savingwhizgina, shared her top tip to help cut food bills for good.
And it’s all about doing one big shop a month, with smaller top-up shops for things you need when they’re on offer.
She explained: “This is the single best thing you can do if you’re trying to save money on groceries this week.
“I wish I knew this when I first started because I could have saved hundreds of dollars each month.”

Gina then continued to lift the lid on her tried and tested method she said has transformed her finances.
She said: “If you’re currently writing your grocery list based on what you’re going to make that week, try this instead.
“Create a grocery list based on staple items – things like rice, flour, pasta, meats and even frozen veggies.
“That should be your largest shopping trip for the month.

“That means you’ll have a lot of ingredients on hand that you can use for a ton of different meals.
“Then, on your other shopping trips for the rest of the month, you can buy the other types of ingredients that your family likes.”

She went on to give specific examples, such as snacks when they go on special offer, resulting in a saving.
Gina concluded: “This saves you time, money and you get to feed your family on a budget.”
