ROUND 2
09/10/22 – Dundee B 12 – 4 Bishan Chess Club Singapore
A more than respectable 8 boards in play and some very exciting and double edged chess on display from both sides, not for the squeamish!
Dundee City B bounced back in style after there mauling at the hands of “ChessKidsNations” in round 1 with a comfortable looking 12 – 4 win over their Singapore opponents, Bishan Chess Club! The score line was a bit unkind to Bishan whose players played well and caused a lot of problems (Mr Noble what do you say!), but did not get the rewards in the end! Dundee City B team stood tall and strong under the barrage and deservedly got the win and their first points on the board!
Well played Alan Borwell (2 draws); Iain Sneddon (1½pts); Theodoros Vasiliadis (1pt); Ross Brennan (1½pts); James Anderson (2pts); Kit McEvoy Gould (2pts); Ray Noble (1pt) and Ray Flood (2pts).
09/10/22 – Dundee City A 7½ – ½ Shenzhen Peng Yue Chess Club China
In the words of a famous song, “Anything you can do, we can do better“! This was as comfortable as it gets for Dundee City A on their way to a perfect start with two wins out of two! Dundee City A massively out graded their opponents from China, Shenzhen Peng Yue Chess Club with all four boards over 2000+!
Shenzhen, is in south-eastern China, a modern metropolis that links Hong Kong to China’s mainland. It has a staggering population of over 12.58 million (2021)! (Dundee only 148,210 in 2020).
Well done to Shenzhen`s board one player, Jack-Jing (1870) for avoiding the whitewash with an outstanding draw against IM Richard Polaczek (2355)!
Well played Richard Polaczek IM (2355); Declan Shafi (2200); Ian Wright (2143) & Ed Spencer (2109)!
Both Dundee City teams can look forward to round 3 with confidence no matter who they face!
