She swapped her scrubs for swimwear and evening gowns while working full-time at West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Alice told The Sun: “It’s a challenge that is completely different to my day job.

“Instead of scraping my hair back, putting on my uniform and working a late shift, I’m taking a bit more care of myself and putting time into how I look and how I feel.”

NHS paramedic Alice, of Walsall, West Mids, is in the running for the Miss England crown after winning Miss Black Country in August.

The six-foot medic says the competition has helped her become more confident.

Alice said: “Growing up I had a lot of self-doubt and body image issues and at times I felt like I didn’t fit in because I’m tall.

“I’ve worked to overcome that and doing these competitions has encouraged me to be proud of my body.”

She is one of 40 finalists for the contest.
