FISH and chips is the nation’s favourite feel-good food, a poll found.
More than half of us choose a chippy tea when we need cheering up.
The deep-fried treat was picked by 56 per cent of people.
A roast dinner came a close second with 54 per cent.
Third was a takeaway — Chinese or Indian — selected by 52 per cent.
In fourth place was pizza (46 per cent), then cheese on toast (40 per cent) and beans on toast (39 per cent).

Steak and chips, lasagne, apple pie and custard and sticky toffee pudding made up the top ten of go-to treats.
The study, by probiotic drink brand Yakult, found that we turn to a favourite food or snack twice a week on average, mainly when stressed, bored or tired.
Other quick fixes include watching a favourite telly show, reading a book, having a bath or going to the gym.
Forty-one per cent of women tidy the house to relax and 28 per cent of men do gardening.
