Storytelling program
promotes exercise
The Marin County Free Library has launched a program called “StoryWalk,” which runs through Nov. 10.
The program aims to encourage exercise, exploration and literacy by placing story boards in local neighborhoods.
Residents will see the stories as they walk near the Bolinas, Civic Center, Corte Madera, Fairfax, Inverness, Point Reyes and Stinson Beach libraries, and through Novato’s Miwok Park.
Guides to the routes are available at marinlibrary.org/storywalk, by scanning the QR codes along each route and at library branches.

Irish festival set
for this weekend
The 11th annual Fairfax Irish Festival is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The event will feature food, music and dancing, showcasing more than 30 performers at venues around town. The festival is sponsored by area businesses, the Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department and the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce.

Nonprofit offers
pet portrait class
Marin Humane will hold a pet painting workshop on Nov. 19.
The event is geared toward children ages 8 to 12. Artist Claire Raymond will help participants create realistic art of pets. A tour of the shelter and a snack will be provided.
The workshop is set for 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Marin Humane center at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. The cost is $65.

Miller Creek district
names new trustee
Franco Ruggeri, a parent of two children at Lucas Valley Elementary School, has been appointed to the Miller Creek School District board.
Ruggeri, who has lived in the district for 11 years, was chosen from a field of seven applicants to fill the seat vacated by Barrett Schaefer. Schaefer’s term expires in November 2024.
Ruggeri is president of the Lucas Valley Home and School Club and also serves as a coach for the Miller Creek soccer league.
Mary Jane Burke, Marin superintendent of schools, administered the oath of office to Ruggeri at the board’s meeting on Oct. 11.
