Police arrest Antioch man in Pittsburg double shooting
PITTSBURG — A 35-year-old Antioch man was in county jail Monday after his arrest on suspicion of multiple charges in connection with a double shooting late last week, authorities said.
In a statement, police said officers responded to a report of the shooting just after 9:05 p.m. Friday near Davi and Civic avenues, and arrived to find a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and her 8-year-old son suffering from a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
First responders took the two to hospitals, where both were later listed in stable condition.
Investigators later found that the two were riding in a vehicle along Civic Avenue when another vehicle collided with theirs, followed by its driver firing a gun several times into their vehicle before driving off.
After developing information from leads, investigators identified the Antioch man as a suspect who knew the victim and specifically targeted her for the shooting.
On Monday, officers arrested the man on suspicion of attempted murder and child endangerment. He was not initially listed in custody, according to a Contra Costa County records check Monday night.
