Queen Elizabeth crowned most iconic woman of the last 60 years
Brits have voted to name the late Queen Elizabeth II the most ‘iconic’ woman in recent history.
The monarch, who died aged 96 last month, saw off competition from a diverse field, ranging from Princess Diana to Mother Teresa in second and third and the Spice Girls down in eighth.
The poll of 2,000 Brits aimed to find the most influential and important woman in the last 60 years.
Elizabeth, who reigned from 1952 to 2022, took more than a quarter of the vote.
Diana was significantly behind the Queen’s 27% on 6%, followed by the nun Mother Teresa on 5% and American civil rights activist Rosa Parks on 4%.
Young climate activist Greta Thunberg, singer Dolly Parton and tennis player Emma Raducanu all pipped the Spice Girls to the top 7.
Television interviewer Oprah Winfrey and Pakistani female education campaigner Malala Yousafzai made up the rest of the top ten.

The poll was organised by bath and skincare brand fenjal.
The company’s Joanne Ward said: ‘Queen Elizabeth II held the nation’s heart for 70 years, so it seems very fitting and a touching tribute that the UK has voted her their most iconic woman.’
