The victory handed Pep Guardiola’s side their first defeat of the season in a controversial match.

A raging Jurgen Klopp was sent off after his protests to officials went too far, while Guardiola was left frustrated by Phil Foden’s disallowed strike which would have handed Man City the lead.

But there is now even more contention surrounding the match as fans unearthed new footage raising question marks around Salah’s 76th minute goal.

One Twitter video left some fans wondering if the goal should have stood, with the ball potentially hitting the forward’s arm.

The 30-year-old’s marvellous strike saw him spin around Joao Cancelo just beyond the halfway line before charging towards goal.

Salah then showed incredible poise and composure to sling the ball past Ederson to hand the Reds the lead.

But it was as the Liverpool star spun around the defender that some fans have raised the issue.

Several camera angles appear to raise questions about whether the ball lightly touched Salah’s hand, which under current rules would mean the goal should not have stood.

No angle is conclusive but some fans are now convinced that Liverpool got the rub of the green.

One person tweeted: “Clear hand ball but no point in complaining about it, the league evens it’s self out they say over the season.”

But others were not having it.

One said: “Love how you just used angles that help your argument and ignored the others.”

The goal followed Man City having one of their own ruled out earlier in the second-half.

VAR judged Erling Haaland to have fouled Fabinho in the build up to Foden’s strike.

Asked about the decisions after the game, Guardiola said “this is Anfield” with the City boss aggrieved with the decisions that went against his side.

He also claimed he was pelted with coins during the game, while further unease followed when Man City said their team bus was attacked after the game.
