In the latest instalment, viewers watched as Robbie refused to enter witness protection.

After helping the police to arrest National Action members, Robbie Mullen trusted that Matthew Collins and Hope Not Hate will keep him safe.

However the informant didn’t tell the police about the murder plan and any other vital information he had right away.

Viewers were not happy with the way this turned out and took to social media to comment.

The Walk-In viewers horrified by 'brutal' and 'stomach turning' library scene

One wrote: “If The Walk In is true, the informant didn’t tell the police about the murder plan right away as he should. Rather, he told Hate not Hope, who dragged their feet over police cooperation. They get an a***-kissy drama on ITV? Thankfully Rosie Cooper wasn’t harmed by the delay.”

Another wrote: “Five minutes into the The Walk In on ITV and it’s putting me through the ringer a bit here lads.”

Since the show has aired a number of ITV viewers have had various complaints about the violence used, finding it “uncomfortable” to watch and branding it “stomach turning”.

With one person writing: “Such a tough watch. The violence is horrific but the real terror is the ideology and the brainwashing that creates and continues a terrorist ’cause’ #TheWalkIn,”.

Another viewer added: “Don’t know if ‘enjoy’ #TheWalkIn is the right term. A difficult but important watch.”

However others were more positive, with a third commenting: “Powerful first episode of #TheWalkIn, it’s going to be a tough watch this, but it’ll be an important one.”

A fourth commented: “This is definitely hard to watch.”
