Leafly, Uber team up for pot deliveries in Toronto in milestone

0

Uber Technologies Inc.'s Uber Eats unit has teamed up with Leafly Holdings Inc. to offer pot delivery services in Toronto. "This is the first time cannabis delivery will be available on a major third-party delivery platform in the world," Uber said. Toronto residents aged 19 or over may place orders from local cannabis retailers on the Uber Eat app and have it delivered by the retailer's qualified staff. Leafly offers its network of more than 200 retailers in the greater Toronto area, including Hidden Leaf, a chain with three cannabis stores. "We are a small business and this partnership is a great way for us to expand our reach," said Hidden Leaf co-owners Marissa Taylor and Dale Taylor. The delivery service officially launched on Monday and Uber announced it on Sunday. Shares of Leafly are down 0.7% in premarket trades Tuesday after rising 8.3% in regular trades on Monday. Uber is up 2% in premarket trades.
