You can spend the night in a helicopter that Prince William once flew – and kids will love it
YOU can spend the night in a £5.4million helicopter once flown Prince William.
The Sea King 137 was used by Prince William during his three years as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.
The helicopter was eventually retired, until it was bought and coverted into a glamping site.
The newly converted Sea King helicopter is situated in Pinewood Park, Scarborough with its companion chopper which sleep two adults and three children.
There is a double bed, two bunk beds suitable for children up to 13, a bench seat which can be converted to a third child’s bed, electric sockets, kettle, fridge, heater, raised decking area with table and chairs.
The pilot’s dashboard has been restored and is intact so is perfect for kids.

There are communal toilets and showers within a short walk too.
The website states: “Sea King helicopters were hardworking craft that served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, most notably as a Search and Rescue helicopter.
“Of the two you’ll discover here, one served in the Falklands, and the other was piloted by none other than Prince William.”
Two nights in the helicopter will cost £318 a night via Host Unusual.

When he was based at RAF Valley, Prince William helped to save a total of 149 people in this Sea King Rescue 137.
When in service the Sea King had a max cruise speed of 129mph at sea level, at this speed it has a range of 764 miles and climbs at a rate of 2,020 feet per minute.
The Sea Kings cost around £5.4million per unit to build and a further £14,000 per flight including crew, training and fuel.
Another Sea King – a 17m-long Sea King ZA127 helicopter – has been transformed into a glamping site, sleeping up to six people, in Thornhill.
