Truss not going to resign as UK PM
British Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss has said in an interview with the BBC that she has no plans to resign, despite the discontent among some members of the ruling Conservative Party
“I am staying because I was elected to work for the good of this country and that is what I intend to do. I will be at the helm of the Conservative Party at the next general election… We are going through very difficult times right now and we simply cannot waste time talking about the Conservative Party instead of doing what we have to do. That is my message to my colleagues,” Truss said.
The prime minister added that she was accepting responsibility for the “mistakes made” and wanted to apologise.
“I wanted to help people deal with the energy bills, with the problem of high taxes, but we went too far and too fast, I recognised that,” Truss said.
