Mother of George Floyd's Daughter Files $250 Million Lawsuit Against Kanye West for Comments on His Death
Kanye West is facing a massive new lawsuit.
Roxie Washington, who is the mother of Gianna Floyd, is suing the 45-year-old rapper in a $250 million lawsuit following his recent comments.
Gianna is the daughter of George Floyd, who died in 2020 at the hands of the Minneapolis police and sparked Black Lives Matter protests worldwide.
Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law confirmed that the family issued a cease-and-desist letter to Kanye, via NBC’s Houston affiliate news station.
Kanye recently alleged that George died as a result of fentanyl use in an interview, sparking outrage.
“I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out. One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes. They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,” he said during Drink Champs.

Hennepin County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker said during his testimony that while heart disease and use of fentanyl were contributing factors to his death, they were not the direct cause, via CNN.
Former police officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for murdering George Floyd.
Lawyers said in the news release that Kanye made “false statements about George Floyd’s death to promote his brands, and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners, and associates.”
It goes on to say Kanye stated “malicious falsehoods” about George Floyd in order to profit from his death and the family’s trauma.
The full interview has since been removed from the Drink Champs YouTube and Revolt TV.
“The interests of the child are priority. George Floyd’s daughter is being traumatized by Kanye West’s comments and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her,” said attorney Nuru Witherspoon, partner at The Witherspoon Law Group.
Kanye West also made a claim about Drake.
